Under the sentencing guidelines credit for guilty plea will not reduce the driving ban, which state as follows
‘The guideline applies only to the punitive elements of the sentence and has no impact on ancillary orders including orders of disqualification from driving'
In other words only your fine or community service may be reduced for guilty plea not the driving ban.
You therefore have nothing to lose by pleading not guilty in respect of the length of any driving ban should you wish to defend the charges to avoid a criminal record or driving ban.
If after reviewing all the evidence it is not possible to avoid a driving ban you can change your plea to guilty at a later stage in the case. We can put forward a plea in mitigation with the impact of a ban on your work and family situation to minimise the penalties and recommend the drink driving awareness course (alcohol related cases) to reduce the ban by up to 50%..
We will however do everything possible to avoid a driving ban so this does not become necessary.
